A dear friend once said that while on the trail, you can choose between being happy when you go, or when you’re in camp – but never both.
My packing list has tried to find a middle ground between both of these, leaving rather heavily towards packing light. Upcoming disgusting examples include wearing one and bringing only one T-shirt and pair of socks.

I still added the luxury of a small thermos and some tea bags to be able to rest with a hot cup of tea.
Also – full safety equipment is a must and never subject to compromise. I pack a satellite GPS navigator (Garmin inReach), emergency shelter, full first aid kit and sufficient warm clothes for spending a night outdoors if I have an emergency.
